CARROLLTON - One by one, members of the Peachtree Ridge boys cross country looked at the crowded board with the team standings.
"Oh my gosh," one runner exclaimed. "Are you serious?," another one blurted out.
Then someone finally shouted out: "We are state champions."
In
the biggest surprise of the day, Peachtree Ridge dethroned heavy
favorites Brookwood and defending champ Collins Hill to win the Class
AAAAA state championship on Saturday.

CARROLLTON - It doesn't matter how many times Collins Hill wins the cross country state championship, it never gets old.
Each season brings new challenges, budding stars emerge and expectations to meet.
Saturday was no different.
Amanda
Winslow defended her individual championship, No. 1 Collins Hill
claimed a sixth straight title and Vicky Winslow emerged as the Eagles'
next possible star.
